Live Lessons Best Practices

Zoom Meeting / Webinar Guidelines and Best Practices

It's important to follow certain practices when hosting live lessons. This includes the following:

  • Consider having a webinar format and ask all participants to mute until the end
  • Consider hosting a live workshop and asking everyone to participate
    • Create a series of regular live workshops to encourage hands-on learning
  • Write out the goals and objectives of the virtual class and share with the participants
  • Check and test the video and audio before your training sessions
  • Remain focused throughout and leave all questions until the end when possible. Block off time at the end for Q&A
  • Use the video option and be sure to stage your personal area and use good lighting
  • Dress the part and look professional. No Pajamas!
  • Look into the camera when speaking
  • Solicit feedback and engage the audience throughout your training if and when necessary
  • Share your screen when discussing strategies or teaching a lesson to give the audience good visuals
  • When using a trading platform or sharing lots of data, allow the audience time to absorb the information on your screen
  • Use the Zoom annotation tools to highlight and call out information
  • Keep all live meetings under one hour and don't multitask during the webinar
  • Use passwords to further protect your meetings

It's critical that you closely manage your live session schedules. If you schedule a live training and you cannot make it, we require that you cancel and remove or update the meeting 24 hours in advance. In order to stay in good standing, we do require that you do not miss a scheduled live training session. If for any reason there is an emergency, send out an announcement as soon as possible to notify the members on your course.
