Creating Course Lessons

How Lessons are Structured

Lessons on Invested Pro are broken down by topic, so once you create a topic you can begin adding your lessons to that topic. Each lesson topic and the corresponding video lessons you create are included on your course Overview page for everyone to see. Therefore, it's recommended to use a similar approach with your lesson topics and lessons that you use for your course title. Here are the best practices for grouping and naming your lessons:

• Group your video lessons into topics based on specific subjects. In the example below, you would add the relevant video lessons to each of these topics you have created.
  • For example, if your course is about Trading Oil contracts, you may wish to break out and name the lesson topics as follows:
    • 1st Topic: Oil Markets, Energy Sector, and Volatility
    • 2nd Topic: Understanding Spot Prices and Supply and Demand
    • 3rd Topic: Top ways to profit from Trading Crude Oil Futures
    • 4th Topic: Day Trading Crude Oil Options, ETF's, and ETN's. 
• Along with the topic, the name of each video lesson is also displayed on the course overview page. For the lessons titles, be very specific on what the video lesson covers (but be sure to keep it brief). As an example, the following lesson title describes what the lesson will cover:
  •  Technical Charting for WTI Oil Prices 

How to Add Lessons

After starting your course, to create lessons from the course builder, scroll down to the course builder section and add your first topic.

After you add a topic in the course builder, you can start adding your lessons. Follow these steps to upload a lesson:

1. Click the +Lesson button to open the new lesson screen
   

   

2. Add your lesson title and a brief description for your lesson.

3. *Upload a feature image that represents this lesson (optional). This image is displayed next to your video lesson on the course overview page in place of the play video icon.

4. Upload your Video Lesson (.mp4 format)

5. *Upload a video cover image that will show on top of the video (optional). 

*All images uploaded must follow the image guidelines as outlined in the course guidelines.

Drag and Drop Course Builder

After adding your topics, lessons, quizzes, and assignments, you have the ability to alter the order of them using the drag and drop feature. By clicking on the arrows next to each item, you are able to order them how you like.  The following list of features are available and will show in the course viewer based on the order you choose:

• View all items on a topic by clicking on the far right arrow of the topic row
• Drag and Drop topics, lessons, quizzes, and assignments
• Edit topics by clicking on the pencil on the right of each row
• Edit lessons, quizzes, and assignments by clicking on the item name
• Remove items by clicking on the trash can on the right of each row
