Structuring your courses properly

How To Structure Your Course

  • Intro Videos: The introductory video is an excellent tool to get more members on your course. Use the intro video to let them know what the benefits are in taking your class. It should be brief (1-2 minutes max) and also include some information about yourself. Quick tips for your course intro video:
    • Be warm and welcoming! Build trust by briefly explaining what makes you a credible instructor.
    • Describe the specific benefits the course will provide to each member and what they will learn (in an overview fashion)
    • Who is the best target audience for this course and why? Having the right target audience will grow your ratings and enrollments much quicker.
  • For longer lesson videos, try and break them down into segments within your lessons to keep member engagement high.
  • Remain highly organized and on topic throughout your course. Lesson titles should be specific to the lesson content. Same with course photos, other media, and content.
  • Offer unique insights, your own findings and personal strategies, and best practices. Refrain from simply regurgitating facts; instead, show what works well in the markets and explain why based on your experiences and knowledge, history, training, and failures / successes.
    • Course videos must include a narration throughout the videos.
  • Course videos should contain a combination of you talking with a clear head shot, screencasts of the information you are presenting, and slides to keep the class structured and well organized. Images used throughout the course need to be relevant and should be appealing to the audience.
  • Share risk management techniques that are applied in each one of your strategies. You should provide background on why and how your risk management techniques work.
  • Provide hands-on assignments and include a project, such as a real world (but simulated) Trading or Investing exercise. By making the project a practical learning opportunity based on the course content, members will experience the tangible effects from taking your course. This will result in higher ratings and more course enrollments.
  • Be responsive to members and build your reputation. They came to Invested Pro to learn and get a good education. This is achieved through social learning, which for the members here, includes regular interaction with the course instructors.
